BELGIUM
Ranking 3. Last time Quarter-finals. Manager Roberto Martinez — dropped only two points in qualifying, scoring 43 goals, and were through with two matches to spare. Now the real pressure begins because Belgium has seldom seen such a stellar collection of players.
They’re a bit like Manchester City — abundant attacking options, exciting to watch, free-scoring.
Key man Kevin de Bruyne — no shortage of possibilities here but De Bruyne (right) is chosen because he enjoyed a more successful domestic campaign than Eden Hazard at Chelsea. De Bruyne won the Premier League and League Cup with Manchester City, stylishly showing us his class week-in, weekout and looking majestic.
Rising star Leander Dendoncker — the only player in the squad still with a Belgian club. Dendoncker, 23, is comfortable in either defence or midfield and was impressive when Anderlecht played Manchester United in the Europa League. If he performs well, he will be a target for elite clubs.
Prospects They certainly have the potential to go deep, but could selfcombust when faced with a decent opponent.
