Women deserve better
GIVEN all the healthcare scandals that specifically have impacted women in this country, most recently CervicalCheck, it is unfathomable that the Government still has not standardised the allowances available to women after they undergo mastectomies for breast cancer.
Allowances vary wildly across the country for the likes of prostheses, bras, wigs and swimwear, leading to an utterly unacceptable postcode lottery that favours some and punishes others.
Restored body image is an important psychological pillar in the recovery of women who have had this surgery. They deserve better treatment.
