Candy canyon ban

-

PARENTS will no longer be forced to run the gauntlet of ‘candy canyon’ racks of sweets at checkouts under new UK government plans to tackle obesity.

Shop staff will also be banned from tempting customers with special offers for chocolate, crisps or sweets.

The moves which will be viewed with interest here are part of a strategy to halve childhood obesity by 2030 to be unveiled today. A pre-9pm ban on TV adverts for foods high in sugar, fat or salt is also being mooted.
