Dunsink given star status...

-

DUNSINK Observatory in Dublin has been named one of Europe’s top historical scientific sites.

It is the first location in Ireland to be awarded the title of ‘site of historical significance’ by the European Physical Society.

This award has also been given to institutes such as Einstein’s house in Bern and Marie Skłodowska Curie’s laboratory in Paris.

Dunsink was selected for the award as Sir William Rowan Hamilton lived and worked there from 1827 until his death in 1865. Hamilton was considered one of Ireland’s greatest mathematicians.
