JIM BOLGER

-

won the Magners Ulster Derby at Down Royal for the third year in succession as Change Of Velocity scooped the €59,000 first prize for owners Godolphin. Dermot Weld’s Sheberghan was the 5-2 favourite but was only second behind the 7-2 winner and was never really a threat. Change Of Velocity hit the front with two furlongs to go and stayed on stoutly to see out the extended mile and a half trip.

Winning jockey Kevin Manning said: ‘It has been a lucky race for Jim, he always sends a nice type of horse up here.’
