Magic! Girl’s Potter book in £56k sale

-

A RARE first edition of Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone bought by a schoolgirl 21 years ago has sold at auction for more than £56,000.

The book, the first in the series, was one of only 500 printed in an initial run in 1997 and contained spelling mistakes that were later corrected for other editions. The author is named as Joanne Rowling instead of J K Rowling, as she has become known.

The unnamed vendor bought the book at an English railway station at the age of 11.

A US private collector snapped it up for £56,250 at Bonhams auction house.
