Jockeys hurt after double fall

-

JOCKEYS Kieran Shoemark and Dayverson de Barros were taken to hospital for further assessment following a nasty incident in the five-furlong RBL Surrey County EBF Novice Stakes at Lingfield. Shoemark’s mount Cutthechat fell about four furlongs from home after sustaining an injury and brought down Estupendo, ridden by de Barros.

The two horses suffered fatal injuries.

Meanwhile, Sir Dancealot showed no signs of a quick turnaround catching up with him as he claimed the first Pattern-race success of his career in the Betway Criterion Stakes at Newmarket.

After finishing a respectable seventh in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, the David Elsworth-trained gelding appreciated the step back up to seven furlongs as he returned to winning ways in the Group Three contest.

Anchored at the rear of the field, the four-year-old came with a power-packed run to sweep past his rivals around a furlong from home before holding So Beloved at bay.
