The Irish Mail on Sunday

BRIAN KERR

has made quite a stir with his informed and highly entertaining brand of co-commentary for RTÉ during this World Cup. The Dubliner has lit up the tournament with his colloquial take on defences ‘in rag order’, teams playing ‘a banger’ and some ‘wojous’ attempts on goal. Until now, the former St Patrick’s Athletic and Republic of Ireland manager has carried out his duties from a studio in Donnybrook, but he will be in Russia for the knockout stages. Just about. A delayed flight out of Dublin (no pilot!) and missed connection in London on Friday meant he was stranded alongside colleague Adrian Eames in Heathrow for over 12 hours and just about made it to Nizhny in time to commentate on Croatia v Denmark tonight. Viewers would have been banjoed without him.
