FORMER Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams has called on those who attacked his home to meet him and explain why they did it.

Mr Adams made the call after explosive devices were thrown at his West Belfast house – minutes after his grandchildren were playing on the drive – and that of prominent Sinn Féin figure Bobby Storey on Friday night.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland said officers seized ‘remnants of large industrial, firework-type devices, capable of causing serious damage or injury’.

Mr Adams said he did not know who was responsible but said they should ‘have the guts to meet me’. He added: ‘There may be a connection between what’s happening in Derry.’

Sinn Féin chiefs have severely criticised those behind the riots and attacks on police this week. better, as we saw in the marriage equality referendum and in the referendum to remove the Eighth Amendment. In those referendums, young people voted in unprecedented numbers,’ Ms McDonald said in a statement.

‘It is right that we give this generation the opportunity to be part of a wider conversation about what a better Ireland should look like. These citizens should be given the opportunity to be part of deciding who our President is.’
