I WAS
very fond of the late politician Gerry Fitt, a founder of the SDLP, and I am particularly fond of his daughter Eileen and her sister Joan (known as the Missfits). The Fitt family home was burned down by a Provo mob, so I was astonished to see Sinn Féin’s Gerry Adams and Bobby Storey complaining about dissidents attacking their homes. As the Provos’ commander in Belfast in 1973, Adams must have been well aware of the attack on the Fitts’ home.
