What I’m reading for the summer
Dark Pines by Will Dean is a haunting and visceral read. It is a book that oozes atmosphere and I loved it.
Set in an isolated Swedish town, Gavrik, the Elk hunting season has just started, when a body is found.
Tuva Moodyson is a local newspaper reporter and she is intrigued by the case and its possible links to a 20-year-old unsolved murder. There is a lot of description in Dark Pines but I never once skipped a line. It’s so atmospheric I could almost smell the pine trees in the forest where a lot of strange characters live. I highly recommend this if you want something different. But be warned, it is just like the forest, it is very dark.
