A noble dream

FINE Gael deputy Kate O’Connell believes her party will get a significant boost at the polls if the percentage of female candidates is close to 40%. She claims the party cannot fully ‘represent our changed society if we don’t reflect that diversity’. That we need quotas at all is a sad reflection of where we are as a society. Only when the main parties commit to making politics more attractive for women, will Ms O’Connell’s noble dream become a reality.
