Gary’s guidance pays off
GARY KEEGAN revolutionised Irish boxing at the turn of the millennium with a medal-winning high performance programme, and his loose role with the Cork hurlers has fed into their progression to back-to-back Munster titles. Brought in by John Meyler’s predecessor, Kieran Kingston, Daniel Kearney paid tribute to Keegan (right) and his influence on Cork’s upward curve in terms of mental preparation over the past two seasons. ‘Very good to be honest. He’s spent a bit of time with us. Without going into too much detail he’s given us a few techniques and we’ve been putting that in place. I suppose a lot of it is just informing us really more than anything. A lot of the stuff we’re aware of already. It’s been very positive.’
