Our Cup overfloweth

FOR the first time in our history, an Irish team is in a World Cup final. Yesterday’s semi-final against Spain saw our women’s hockey team reach the pinnacle of their sport, and the win was all the sweeter because they represent the entire island.

At 4pm today, everyone – north, south, east, west – will cheer with one voice as they battle The Netherlands and, for once, we’ll all support green against orange.

We wish these incredible women every success, with one small caveat: our nerves are not up to another penalty shootout, so go out there and win it in normal time.

Come on, you girls in green!
