‘GRANNY STATE’ SKIT IS WORTHY OF PYTHON

-

SOMETIMES there’s just plain, old fashioned dumb – and other times there’s dumber.

Shane Ross suggesting that a €1,000 grant payment be handed out by the State to grandparents for looking after the grandkids falls into the latter category.

With a projected annual price tag of €70million, this takes the concept of a Nanny State to an entirely new and farcical level.

It’s hard to imagine anything more insane at a time when nearly 80 children with scoliosis are forced to suffer lives of mental and physical torture because the healthcare system refuses to help them with anything like sufficient speed.

Also, Ross’s political skit takes place as more than 3,000 of our children endure the indignity of lives formed in hotel bedrooms because they don’t have a place they can call home.

It’s at times like these you wonder if somebody forgot to tell us we’re all extras in one huge Monty Python sketch.
