I saw the final moments of serial predator who ‘was not a human’
I WILL never forget his last words. A train-hopping Mexican drifter linked to at least 15 murders said he deserved what he was getting as he received a lethal injection for raping a Houston woman, stabbing her and bludgeoning her with a 2ft bronze statue.
Angel Maturino Reséndiz had become known as ‘the Railroad Killer’ when he was put to death in June 2006. while authorities hunted for him, his murderous rampage earned him a spot on the FBI’s Most wanted list.
Officers realised they were pursuing a serial killer when DNA evidence linked Reséndiz to the killings of a church pastor and his wife, who were beaten with a sledgehammer as they slept.
All of the victims lived near railroad tracks.
One of Resendiz’s lawyers reported that his client, who described himself as half-man and half-angel, told psychiatrists he couldn’t be executed because he didn’t believe he could die.
The husband of one of his victims, after watching Reséndiz die, said the killer ‘may have looked like a man, walked and talked like a man, but what was contained inside that skin was not a human being’.
