Irish mothers reveal that non-branded school uniforms are top of the class when it comes to quality and price

-

Almost a third of Irish mums (30%) find that their children’s uniforms don’t even make it to the Christmas break before starting to go shabby. And 78% revealed that they are forced to buy a new school uniform every year due to frayed cuffs and bobbled jumpers.

Of course, this is due in part to children outgrowing their old uniforms but that being so, less than five per cent of mums surveyed find that their children’s uniforms last the year without obvious signs of wear and tear.

But with 70% of Irish mums stating that more expensive branded uniforms aren’t good value for money, thankfully the old adage of ‘you pay for what you get’ no longer applies when it comes to school uniforms.

That’s why Tesco has introduced the F&F 100-day guarantee on school uniforms ahead of this school year – it wants parents to feel confident that what they’re buying is durable, good quality and most importantly will last the test of time, without spending a small fortune kitting out their kids before heading back to school.

And this commitment to quality at an affordable price can be seen throughout the range of items on offer.

Over half of parents (64%) look for stain-resistant fabrics when buying uniforms, so focusing on quality fabrics, the F&F Back to School range features stain-repellent polos and bottoms with reinforced knees that will allow your kids to really put their uniforms through their paces – after all, the proof is in the wearing and almost ten per cent of parents find they spend the most money on trousers and skirts.

Knitwear has similarly been created with durability in mind and reduced bobbling.

New technology and bold colours that won’t fade are the main focus for the upcoming school year, bearing in mind that 42% of parents surveyed admitted that they usually spent the most money on school jumpers.

Another feature to look out for are the adjustable waists on skirts and trousers which are perfect for kids who are growing at lightning speed and don’t want to spend half the school year in clothes that don’t fit properly.

And scuff-resistant shoe styles for boys and girls also mean kids can continue to put their best foot forward throughout the day in a practical and sturdy way, without compromising on comfort.

The F&F Back to School uniform range at Tesco isn’t just focused on value for money.

It wants to shine in the classroom for its fabric technology, durability and outstanding quality too. An A+ result.
