ALL-IRELAND SHC SEMI-FINAL REPLAY Clare v Galway Semple Stadium, 2pm. TV: Live on RTÉ/Sky Sports

To deploy a sweeper or not to deploy a sweeper, that is the question for the Clare management brains trust of Donal Moloney and Gerry O’Connor. Switching Colm Galvin back was a bold and ballsy game-changer in the drawn semi-final at Croke Park last Saturday, but it’s twice as hard to pull the same rabbit out of the hat and get the same stunned reaction. Galway’s failure to adapt accordingly is a mistake Micheál Donoghue won’t make twice. Gearóid McInerney’s injury is a leveller and while mental fatigue for a team chasing back-to-back All-Irelands is a worry, the champions showed against Kilkenny that they can find another gear when offered a second chance.

ALL-IRELAND SFC SUPER 8s GROUP 1 Donegal v Tyrone Ballybofey, 3.30pm. TV: Live on RTÉ

A win for the home team and they are in the last four against Monaghan; any other result and they are out. It is perfectly set up and Donegal will agonise over the loss of Paddy McBrearty and Eoghan Bán Gallagher. It would not be a shock if the latter made a recovery. This will be a tense, tactical contest, the kind Tyrone have made a habit of winning in the past. Donegal have that incredible unbeaten record – it is over eight years since they were last beaten here. Records are made to be broken.

Dublin v Roscommon Croke Park, 3.30pm. TV: Live on RTÉ News Now

This is a game of little consequence. Roscommon will play for pride and Dublin will play because they know no other way. It does present Jim Gavin with a great opportunity to give some squad players game-time and allow regulars tick over with 45 minutes. Dublin’s focus will be on next week and their clash with Galway. Roscommon’s will be on next year and everyone else will be occupied by events in Ballybofey.
