CIE’s Dean downs Dublin Bus ROUND-UP

- – PAUL BUTTNER

A LATE winner from Dean O’Brien proved just the ticket to book CIE

Ranch a place in the second round of the Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup following a 1-0 win over Dublin Bus.

With the watch into the third minute of added time, O’Brien found time and space to crack home a left-footed shot from outside the area that screamed into the net with what was literally the last kick of the game.

Eoin McCormack claimed a hat trick and Conor Barry scored the fourth as Galway United kept a clean sheet and saw off North End United. Goals from Joe Doyle and Luke Clucas ensured Cabinteely eventually saw off Clare outfit

Newmarket Celtic by the odd goal in three. Scoreless heading into the final quarter, Doyle punished a loose pass to head home a Clucas cross. Clucas slammed home a volley minutes later but Eoin Hayes halved the deficit on 84 minutes with a piledriver but the First Division side held on.

Meanwhile, Maynooth University Town proved too strong for Cork’s Leeds AFC, winning 2-0.
