Turner claims fine silver in Europeans

SWIMMING: Nicole Turner (right) secured Ireland’s second medal at the World Para Swimming Allianz European Championships in Dublin yesterday. After Ellen Keane’s bronze on Friday, Turner added a splendid silver medal in the final of the women’s 50 metres butterfly S6 category. The 16-year-old Turner was beaten to the gold medal by Eleanor Robinson of Great Britain by just over a second after touching in a time of 36.75. Elsewhere, James Scully finished seventh in the men’s 100m freestyle S5 category won in a world record by Italian Antonio Fantin. Barry McClements came sixth in the final of the men’s 400m freestyle S9.
