Horgan’s on a roll with new Amazon role
COMEDY writer and actress Sharon Horgan has been signed up to write and star in another comedy series following the success of Catastrophe and Divorce.
The Co. Meath funnywoman has been commissioned by Amazon to create a new show for the US and world markets,
The untitled comedy will follow the actress as ‘a socially awkward, broke, single woman who launches a self-help company and recruits a handsome former male gymnast to be the face of it’.
The keep-fit hunk will be played by Billy Magnussen, who also starred opposite Horgan in the movie Game Night earlier this year.
Movie website Deadline revealed the new venture will be co-written with John Hamburg and Ian Helfer, creators of Why Him? the 2016 comedy starring Zoey Deutch, James Franco and Bryan Cranston about a possessive dad who was not happy with his daughter’s choice of fiancé.
Horgan has had a golden year with the success of her BBC show Motherland, her HBO series Divorce and the forthcoming fourth series of Channel 4’s Catastrophe.
She is also set to star alongside fellow Irish comic Aisling Bea in another Channel 4 series, Happy AF.
Horgan will also make her directorial debut on a big screen version of the book, The New World, by Chris Adrian and Eli Horowitz.
It tells the story of a woman left devastated by the death of her husband.
