Good neighbours have their day...

LIKE everyone else, I got a great buzz from watching the Limerick hurlers win last Sunday. In part because they are good neighbours but also because of the joy that came with the ending of a 45-year title drought.

What also impressed was the humility on show, not least from their main sponsor JP McManus who was not keen to paint himself as a central player in the success.

He acknowledged his involvement but pointed out the difference between those who supported and the players who got the thing done.

‘It is a bit like having eggs and bacon for breakfast. The hen was involved in it because she lays the egg, but it was only the pig who was truly committed,’ he tweeted.

You have got to love that.
