Storm ‘blown away’ by TV vet
Mrs Keating says Irish Supervet saved her pug Paddy’s life
STORM KEATING has revealed that she and husband Ronan faced the heartbreaking prospect of putting one of their beloved pugs to sleep – until Irish supervet Noel Fitzpatrick intervened.
Paddy the Pug was born in February with a cleft palate – which means he couldn’t feed from his mum Aussie – and a spinal defect which only began to show as he grew.
Speaking to the Irish Mail on Sunday, Storm revealed that his life-saving surgery has been a ‘long road’ but that they hope to be reunited with their pet soon.
Storm, 36, said: ‘Most vets just dismiss the condition, but a friend of ours told us about Noel and he has been God’s gift.
‘He operated on Paddy immedi- ately. It’s a very intense surgery – 16 micro pins were placed into his spine – and the recovery has been even more intense. But we’re seriously blown away by Noel and the whole team and couldn’t be more grateful to them.’
Laois-born vet Fitzpatrick recently treated Meghan Markle’s beagle, Guy, after he suffered a broken leg.
His animal hospital, Fitzpatrick Referrals, in Surrey, is a lastchance saloon for pets whose broken bones cannot be treated at a standard veterinary practice.
Storm added: ‘Paddy still has a long way to go, but his spirit is fierce and he hasn’t stopped fighting and charming everyone.’
