A CLOSE contest during the first half before Cork pulled away to win their fifth All-Ireland in six years. Cork captain Christy Ring proved himself a man for the big occasion by scoring 2-4, with both goals showcasing the great man’s breathtaki­ng talent. The 7-5 to 3-8 victory was representa­tive of Cork’s near-total dominance during that period.
