FORMER Leinster flanker Dominic Ryan has been forced to retire from rugby at the age of 28 due to a series of concussion issues.

Ryan – who won one cap for Ireland against Georgia in 2014 – joined Leicester Tigers last season after eight years with Leinster, but only made five appearances for the English side after suffering troubling head issue following a collision with Northampton’s George North last September.

Ryan was plagued by migraines and dizziness over the remainder of the season, but is migraine-free since his last collision with a tackle-bag.

The All Blacks led by 11 points at half-time thanks to tries from Nehe Milner-Skudder and TJ Perenara. Further tries followed on the restart from Perenara captain Kieran Read, Shannaon Frizell and Jack Goodhue.

Elsewhere, Australia survived a late South African onslaught to record a tense 23-18 win against Rassie Erasmus’ Springboks in Brisbane.
