KEEPER NETS WINNER

GOALKEEPER Brendan Clarke scored the winner as St Pat’s beat Sligo Rovers 2-1 at a rain-soaked Showgrounds last night.

The Saints captain caught everyone by surprise by racing forward after Simon Madden was tripped in the area and demanding the ball from striker Achille Campion, before sending his opposite number, Mitchell Beeney, the wrong way.

A neat finish from Jake Keegan had given Pat’s the lead on 30 minutes before Sligo’s in-form Mikey Drennan equalised. But it was Clarke who was the hero as the visitors go up to fifth.
