APPLE FANS THRILLED TO THE CORE...
This week, Apple held their annual product announcement and aficionados weren’t disappointed. Three new iPhones were launched: the iPhone Xs, Xs Max and Xr.
The iPhone Xs, at €1,179, is an upgrade to last year’s model and while it looks similar, there’s some impressive changes under the hood. It has a 5.8” Super Retina HD screen. It and the other new phones, are now powered by Apple’s new A12 chip. This Neural Engine looks to be a powerhouse at the heart of the phone and can handle five trillion operations per second. All three phones also sport 12MP cameras on the back, and front-facing TrueDepth 7MP cameras for video calls.
The big brother of the Xs, the Xs Max, is the biggest iPhone ever made with a massive 6.5” screen that runs almost edge to edge. It starts at €1,279 and the budget phone of the three, at €879, the Xr, is also a big-screen device at 6.1”.
Apple also unveiled the new Watch Series 4. This €439 device steps up the game in wearable tech, with a screen 30% bigger than the last model.
The most impressive feature, though, is the ceramic back which contains a heart sensor that produces on-demand ECGs. Apple have also added features like fall-detection, which initiates an SOS call to the emergency services in the event of an incident. The phones and watch will launch here this month and in October.
