Eubank knows he cannot lose to McDonagh
CHRIS EUBANK JNR has said he cannot let Mullingar’s JJ McDonagh knock him out in Saudi Arabia next week.
The Irish SuperMiddleweight Champion faces the Englishman in Jeddah on Saturday and has suggested he will end his opponent’s career.
McDonagh, who has a 16-4 record across middleweight and lightheavyweight has already been in the ring with his much-vaunted opponent and reckons he hurt him over three rounds.
Eubank, though, has been hard at work in anticipation of the fight which will be staged on the undercard of George Groves versus Callum Smith bout in Abu Dhabi.
The 28-year-old has been training in Las Vegas with Floyd Mayweather Snr but having lost two of his last 10 fights, Naseem Hamed called for him to retire after defeat by Groves in February.
‘I’m sure every fighter who’s ever lost a fight has been told they should retire,’ said Eubank. ‘Retirement is for your mid-30s. I’m 28. (But) I can’t afford another loss. No fighter can afford a loss; but now my record has to be squeaky clean. I cannot lose.’
