Murray’s comeback season to end early
ANDY MURRAY will play two tournaments in China this coming fortnight and will then shut down his season to prepare for 2019.
The twice Wimbledon champion announced today that the ATP events in Shenzen and Beijing will be his last of the year before he concentrates on more rehab work to prepare for January’s Australian Open.
It means that Murray will have played in seven tournaments since deciding to make his comeback at Queen’s in June.
‘I’m looking forward to playing in Shenzen and Beijing over the next few weeks,’ he said. ‘After that I’ve decided to end my season to give me the preparation time I need to get ready for a strong 2019.
‘The last few months have been positive and with the extra work over the coming months I’ll be closer to playing at my highest level again.’
In the next fortnight he will try and improve his ranking of 308 and his first round in Shenzhen will be against Chinese wildcard Zhizhen Zhang.
