Boris is a liar and an ignoramus, says Kielty
BORIS JOHNSON has been savaged by Northern Irish comedian Patrick Kielty for his stance on Brexit.
Kielty has warned that the North will be more divided than ever if the Tory rebel’s political vision is realised. He accused Mr Johnson of lying and called him an ‘ignoramus’.
BORIS Johnson has come under fire from comedian Patrick Kielty, who has warned that Northern Ireland will be more divided than ever if the Tory rebel’s Brexit vision is realised.
The TV star issued a string of Tweets directed at Mr Johnson and his plan for a ‘better Brexit’, which he branded as showing ‘ignorance’ on the relationship between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.
‘Any break-up of the UK will be your fault’
Mr Johnson’s plan includes a ‘SuperCanada’ trade deal which would see no tariffs and quotas on imports and exports between the UK and the EU.
In a 4,600 word piece presenting his vision, Mr Johnson says the UK needs to go back to the EU and tell them the backstop ‘arrangement is no longer operative and no longer acceptable...’
Last night Mr Johnson expanded on his plan, telling the Sunday Times that he believes Britain should build a bridge to Ireland.
The comedian wrote that Mr Johnson is an ‘ignoramus’. As you still seem bamboozled by all this Paddywackery, here’s a few pointers for your next stab in the dark,’ he began. ‘Thanks to your glorious Brexit vision, Northern Ireland will become more divided as some form of economic border checks will become part of daily lives. If those checks take place between NI and Ireland, the nationalists who were once happy being part of the UK will change their mind. If they take place in the Irish Sea, some unionists will be livid...
‘Your Brexit lies have opened a Pandora’s box... for Northern Ireland... Barely mentioned before Brexit, a border poll is now inevitable thanks to your monumental ignorance. When that poll is eventually held, the nationalists who were once content being part of a Northern Ireland within the UK and EU will vote to leave the UK... The poll will be much closer thanks to your Brexit folly.’
