Copycat Conor has Tiger down to a tee

- By Craig Hughes

AN Irish comedian had golf fans in stitches with his impressions of some of the game’s biggest stars at the Ryder Cup.

Conor Moore from Mullingar won the hearts of fans on either side of the Atlantic this week when he appeared on Sky Sports’ and Golf Channel’s coverage of the event.

The impressionist told Sky he started doing impressions of golfers when Tiger Woods began to make his comeback, and spent days perfecting the star’s voice and mannerisms.

‘I said “right, I have to nail Tiger”, so I stayed in my room for four days. I became Tiger in the room and I watched hundreds of videos and I realised he says the same thing all the time: “Ugh, conditions are really tough out there but I think I played really well this week. I really did. I’m putting well, my back feels well, so I feel good”,’ he said.

Earlier this week, European Ryder Cup captain, Thomas Bjorn, played a 10 minute video of Moore’s impressions of the 12-man team to lighten the mood in the camp.

Since then his status has continued to rise thanks to his new fan base of elite golfers. ‘It’s been great, especially with all the guys on the European side of it, like Sergio [Garcia] and Rory [McIlroy] retweeting the videos,’ he said.
