Internet angst over Casey drive at Michael D

Candidate Peter Casey’s video of him hitting golf balls into Lough Foyle got a below par reaction on social media. Some claimed that it takes 1,000 years for a ball to decompose.

His message, which some would interpret as criticism of President Higgins, was lost on most viewers.

He said: ‘this is my driver. i take it with me everywhere when i travel. it’s the only driver i’ll be taking with me when i become President.’

President Higgins’s driver in his 2011 campaign, Kevin McCarthy, now works as his executive assistant.

Mr Casey, despite criticising the President for not answering questions yesterday, was unavailable for comment.
