I HOPE TO GIVE UP TO SIX LITRES

-

Milk bank donor and mother of four Sinéad Farrell hopes to donate six litres over the next three months. This is her second time donating milk and in 2015 she collected five litres.

Sinéad had her fourth baby, Rachel, seven weeks ago and she has already expressed two 200ml bottles which have been stored in her freezer.

She said: ‘Premature babies can’t tolerate formula so breast milk is the only thing that can sustain them and prevent them from getting infections.’

TV presenter and mother of two (soon to be three) Ciara Whelan said donating her breast milk was a ‘no-brainer’.

Ciara, 38, known for presenting Virgin TV’s The Holiday Show, looked into donating when she was pregnant with her second child, Edie, now aged two and a half.

She told the irish Mail on Sunday: ‘i donate blood, so for me, it was another way of giving. Why not help some really sick babies who really need it? it was a no-brainer.’

Now, 30 weeks pregnant on her third baby with fellow presenter Jon Slattery, 48, Ciara is looking forward to when the milk bank is back up and running again.

The couple recently launched Shiny Day TV, an online travel show featuring their family.
