Unruffled Marty brings party to US
MOVIE mogul Peter Bogdanovich can move in and out of Fitzpatrick’s Hotel in New York anonymously – unlike RTÉ sports presenter Marty Morrissey who is constantly asked to pose for selfies.
Last week Morrissey breezily waved away any response to the thinly disguised envy in colleague Des Cahill’s recent book. And the canny Clareman refused to lambast the US President, shrewdly recalling that his family home is just four miles from Trump Doonbeg resort.
He reminded inquisitors that Trump employs more than 300 local people while the only factory in the area has less than 100 on its payroll.
He was attending a Marty Party in New York on Thursday – the IrishUS Gaelic Heritage Awards dinner Gala. Accompanied by fiancée Liz Kidney, he was MC and introduced the legendary Finbar Furey and the brightest GAA stars at the grandest occasion in the GAA’s US diary.
