The fanboys got their boxers in a twist when it was announced the new Doctor would be a woman, but Jodie Whittaker surely will bring a breath of fresh air to the tiring franchise.

Blood Virgin Media One, Monday, 9pm

TV3 never was celebrated for its drama output, so let’s hope this new psychological thriller under the Virgin rebrand remedies the situation. Adrian Dunbar stars.

Finding Joy RTÉ One, Wednesday, 9.35pm

The ubiquitous Amy Huberman, pictured left, writes and stars in this new show. It’s billed as a comedy drama, a terrifying term that usually means ‘unfunny comedy’. Let’s hope not.
