isn’t on this year’s goalkeeping football All-Stars shortlist, but Limerick’s No1 Donal O’Sullivan made the greatest save of all this year.
O’Sullivan, a doctor by profession, recently moved to New Zealand and was returning from the Australasian championships in Melbourne, when a fellow plane passenger suffered a heart-attack.
O’Sullivan rushed to his aid, ordered the aircraft to be turned around, and his intervention is believed to have saved the stricken passenger’s life.
There is no gong out there big enough to give to him.
