isn’t on this year’s goalkeepin­g football All-Stars shortlist, but Limerick’s No1 Donal O’Sullivan made the greatest save of all this year.

O’Sullivan, a doctor by profession, recently moved to New Zealand and was returning from the Australasi­an championsh­ips in Melbourne, when a fellow plane passenger suffered a heart-attack.

O’Sullivan rushed to his aid, ordered the aircraft to be turned around, and his interventi­on is believed to have saved the stricken passenger’s life.

There is no gong out there big enough to give to him.
