Walking out on ‘movie mad’ King

-

ELVIS PRESLEY invited Pattie and Eric to watch a movie with him in Memphis. The screening did not take place at his Graceland mansion but in a regular cinema specially hired for the evening, where instead of sitting with the now-bloated King, she and Eric were ushered five rows behind him.

When that film ended, he moved on to see another on a different screen and invited them to come along.

‘It was a five-screen complex and we had visions of being there all night, five rows behind Elvis,’ she recalls. ‘So we made our excuses and left.’
