RTÉ marks centenary

RTÉ will be broadcasti­ng events to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War from 9.45am today.

David McCullagh will present live TV coverage of the Armistice commemorat­ion events at Glasnevin Cemetery and the Arc de Triomphe in Paris on RTÉ One and RTÉ News Now.

This will be followed by live coverage of the Centenary Remembranc­e Sunday Service from St Macaratin’s Cathedral, Enniskille­n at 11.45am on RTÉ One and RTÉ Radio 1 on longwave.

Earlier, a special edition of John Bowman’s archives programme on RTÉ Radio 1 at 8.30am will be followed by a programme featuring writers exploring the theme of remembranc­e at 9.15am.

The History Show special on RTÉ Radio 1 at 6pm will look at the Irishmen who fought in the war. This will be followed by a Poetry Show special at 7.30pm, presented by Olivia O’Leary.
