500 COMPLAINTS OVER LATE LATE CHAT
RTÉ received over 500 complaints after last week’s controversial Late Late Show interview with failed Presidential candidate Peter Casey.
Answering questions from the Mail on Sunday, an RTÉ spokeswoman said an extremely high number of complaints had been sent to Montrose after Ryan Tubridy’s interview.
‘RTÉ has received 353 complaints, and 67 emails and 95 calls giving feedback on last week’s Late Late Show, specifically the Peter Casey interview.’
RTÉ would not say if the complaints related to Tubridy’s handling of the interview or the fact that Mr Casey was a guest, given his campaign comments on Travellers.
The spokeswoman said: ‘Complaints are by their nature confidential. This is not something we would comment on.’ Last week millionaire businessman Casey publicly hit out at Tubridy, calling him ‘insulting and ‘unprofessional’ for the manner in which he conducted the interview. Mr Casey told radio host Niall Boylan on his Classic Hits 4fm show on Monday, that Tubridy was both ‘insulting’ and ‘unprofessional’.
