Joe Root has challenged England to become the best in the world after finally ending their winless Test run overseas. A resounding 211-run victory in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle ended a sequence of 13 games on foreign soil without a win. ‘We’ve (now got) a real clear plan as to how we want to get to be the No 1 side in the world,’ said Root. ‘(But) we’ve got so much more hard work to do.’
