NIGELLA LAWSON, left, struggled financially following her split from Charles Saatchi, taking out a mortgage aged 53 and working harder than ever in order to pay her bills. Legally, the Domestic Goddess may have been entitled to pursue Saatchi for a slice of his fortune. The fact that she didn’t shows that, whatever about her finances, she has admirable reserves of dignity and independence.
