Leo’s tax pledge rings false

-

HOW ridiculous Leo Varadkar’s ard fheis promises of tax cuts are (MoS, November 18). On one hand, he likes to boast about how financially responsible Fine Gael is and how it will balance the national accounts; but with an election in the air, he throws all caution to the wind.

I’d be confident enough to bet my house that the threshold for the top rate of tax will NOT be rising to €50,000 over the next five, or even the next 10, years.

Look at his Government’s actual budget and it was focused far more on spending, including welfare increases, than on tax cuts. It’s all talk. Angela McCarthy, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15.
