I’ll take Italy in Euro draw

-

MICK McCARTHY taking over is bound to give Ireland a lift and we can now look forward to the Euro 2020 qualifying draw next week. Well, sort of …

The way they are playing, I would not want to be in England’s group, but then look at the alternatives among the top seeds – Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, France, Croatia.

I would take Italy but the preference is probably Poland or Switzerland as the two teams we have a chance of beating.

There are not too many teams in Pot Two who concern me. We would all like a break from Denmark and Wales and obviously avoiding Germany is vital. At least if we do get England, we are guaranteed not to draw the Germans or Danes, which is also the case with Netherlands, Italy and Spain.

Lower down, there is not too much to worry about. But not Georgia again, please.
