Scared to joke
I FEEL sympathetic to the plight of magazine editor William Sitwell, more or less forced out of his job because of a silly, private joke he made about vegans (MoS, November 25).
It’s disturbing that he thought he was sending a private email but hours later found it had been released to the media and had turned him into an international hate figure. That’s partly thanks to the power of social media.
I don’t want to live in a society where nobody feels safe to crack a joke.
