KICK-OUT: The kickout shall be taken off the ground from a point on the part of the 20-metre line that forms the semi-circular arc.

Will end the nonsense of whether a 13metre kick reaches the 20 metre line, as is. It might take Stephen Cluxton (left) a few extra seconds for a kick-out but again, worth a go. The rule is fine the way it is. This stops you from restarting quickly, having to go that extra seven metres further. Then you’ll have the big kickers like Rory Beggan landing kickouts near the ’45. To me it’s not necessary. The flaw is that it doesn’t say the ball has to go forwards. Which is right up Stephen Cluxton’s street. I’d imagine it would support goalies with long kick-outs, and the mark that’s there. Maybe lead to more big men at 10,

11, 12, more route one stuff. Rory Beggan (left) has shown how a phenomenal kick over midfield can be lethal – one long kick and a scoring opportunity can open up.
