‘It felt like a violation’
HEALTH Minister Simon Harris said he now questions whether he might require personal security after the ‘intimidation and thuggery’ protesters brought to his family home last weekend.
Speaking on The Marian Finucane Show on RTÉ Radio One, Minister Harris said the actions by a small group of protesters on Sunday afternoon ‘was not a protest’. ‘This was a clear attempt to intimidate me and my neighbours. It felt like a violation,’ he added.
Mr Harris was inside the house that afternoon, whilst his wife Caoimhe and threeweek-old baby daughter, Saoirse, were returning home after a walk, when he said they were followed to the door of their family home in Wicklow.
On the question of whether he might require security, he said: ‘I don’t know. I never felt that before.’
Meanwhile, seven Yellow Vest protestors gathered outside the home of Taoiseach Leo Varadkar in Castleknock, Dublin, last night. They carried signs saying ‘#homeless crisis’, ‘free Ben Gilroy’ and ‘end corruption now’. Gardaí were at the scene.
