GADGET PULLS THE CURTAINS ON HOLIDAY ANXIETY

-

Smart tech lets us do lots of things in the home, even when we’re away. We can turn off the heat if we’re running late. We can make it look like someone’s home by turning on lights or even the TV if we’re stuck in the office. However, if the curtains remain closed – or open – it’s obvious that the house is uninhabited. Enter Slide, a wi-fi enabled add-on that can be fitted to existing curtains to remotely open or close them. It works on almost all horizontal curtain rails and can be installed on to your existing curtain rails in a few minutes. No tools are required. Curtain rail lengths of up to six metres are supported and for those who are clutter averse, Slide is hidden behind your curtains. There’s an app, and you can control the curtains or set timers so they open just before you get up. However, there are other features such as a holiday mode, so your curtains open and close every day when you’re away. It is enabled so you can even ask Amazon Alexa to open your curtains for you. Slide will start shipping in May with a price tag of €250 for onecurtain rail and deals on multiple packs for the whole house.
