Delaney delays Oireachtas

-

JOHN Delaney’s appearance in front of an Oireachtas Committee has been postponed for a second time and will not take place until April.

The FAI chief executive was invited last November by the watch-dog for Transport, Tourism and Sport to talk about the FAI’s finances and governances.

The initial date in January didn’t suit Delaney who suggested next Wednesday, February 20, as an alternative.

But Delaney this week cancelled his scheduled appearance due to ‘matters arising’ from the recent UEFA congress in Rome.

He yesterday expressed gratitude to the Committee for ‘facilitating our request to move our meeting to April’ at which the FAI ‘will happily address any matters they would like to raise.’

Since 2008, the state has provided the FAI with €50m of funding through four government departments and Sport Ireland.
