Sharon set for Hollywood rom-com
SHARON Horgan’s career is going from strength and strength and next year is shaping up to be even better.
The Catastrophe star has just landed the leading part in a major new Hollywood film. The Last Drop will see her appear alongside romcom veteran Vince Vaughn.
Vaughn plays a culinary show host, Clay Mason in the film. Mason has a taste for excess, namely rich foods and endless nights of drinking. Just as his lifestyle threatens to derail his career he comes across nononsense antique dealer Holly.
Enter Sharon Horgan. Horgan’s character specialises in reclaiming lost, undervalued items for her antique shop. She easily sees behind Mason’s life-and-soul-of-the-party mask and helps him find the strength to get his life back on track.
The movie is being produced by Shawn Levy and Dan Levine, both of whom have picked up an Oscar nomination nod for Arrival with Christopher Storer at the helm as director. Speaking about the characters, they told Deadline: ‘Clay requires a nuanced performance as he is both incredibly charming and seriously flawed and with Vince’s ability to be exceptionally funny while at the same time highly affecting, he is perfectly cast in the role.’
They added that they can’t wait to see the chemistry between Vaughn and Horgan. Alex Walton, EVP of International Sales at Endeavor Content described The Last Drop as ‘a ‘beautifully written script’ which ‘depicts modern-day romance.’
‘Vince and Sharon are both highly accomplished performers who will strike the perfect balance between comedy and drama,’ he added.
