Dixon: ‘Soaps will find a way’

- By Niamh Walsh

ACTRESS Jenny Lee Dixon says she thinks soaps such as Fair City could embrace technology to survive the lockdown.

The former Carrigstown star has been spending lockdown with her politician husband Tom Neville, who has taken to the decks during lockdown.

Former Fair City favourite Jenny said her husband’s hobby has been music to her ears.

‘Some people have a hairdresser on hand, I have a DJ,’ she said.

Former Fine Gael TD Tom has had many strings to his bow, including parliamentarian and actor but it seems he is also something of a musical maestro.

‘Tom has worked for years as a parttime DJ doing gigs in pub and clubs. So he has set up his decks here at home and he is knocking out the tunes,’ said Jenny.

She added that his mixes were impressing her family and friends.

‘My friends have been texting saying he is really good and his tunes are a treat. So while he may not be able to do my hair, he is keeping me entertained.’

As for work, Jenny says she has been keeping herself up to date on the radical changes that the screen and film world are adopting in the new Covid-19 world.

‘I have been reading about how the soaps like Emmerdale and others in the UK and the US are implementing new measures to be able to film while maintaining the safety of the cast and crew.

‘I have an agent in the US and he has been sending me some innovative ways to train and acting methods that could be implemented.

‘There is so much going on and producers, studios and all involved in the acting world are coming up with great, new imaginative ideas to keep the industry going and to move it on. There are lots of positive things happening here, in the UK and coming out of LA.’
